Our school

  • This is our school number 5. It is one-storeyd building. There is a sports ground behind the school- building and flower- beds in front of it. The school was built many years ago. It is nearly 100 years old. That’s why the classrooms are light and spacious.
  • This is our head teacher Mikhail Panteleevich. He is very kind, but correct . We respect him very much.


We go to school 6 days a week. Our classes start at 8 o’ clock a.m. and last till 3 o’clock p.m. So, we have 6 or 7 lessons a day. We study many different subjects: Russian, Literature, History, Geography, Biology, Maths, Information Technology and of course, English. It begins on the 1 st of September known as a Day of knowledge and finishes in May. Each quarter is followed by holidays

At our lessons …

During the lessons pupils should answer the teacher’s questions, do some exercises, write sentences, count, read. The pupils are often called to the blackboard. After every lesson the teachers give us home assignment. To do good at school every pupil must do home work regularly, be active at the lessons and spend at least 2-3 hours every day studying.

Classrooms and equipment

Our school is old but cosy. There are many classrooms here. In each classroom there is a computer or a laptop and modern multimedia equipment. We have the opportunity to make and see presentations and use the Internet. There is a cloakroom, a dining room, a computer room and a library in our school too.

English, as a foreign language

At school we study English as a foreign language. At our English lessons we read quite a lot, do exercises, translate texts from English into Russian, learn words and poems by heard. We work at our pronunciation, that’s why we listen CDs and repeat the material after native speakers. We make projects on different topics very often. English Grammar is very difficult but we must improve our language skills.

Our English teacher

And this is our English teacher Olga Anatoljevna. She is very strict but has a sence of humor and speaks English well. She knows very much about English- speaking countries and tells us about them on the lessons. We take part in different Olympiads for example “British Bulldog "and “Olympus”. She likes flowers very much and has a big collection of teddy bears. She likes cats too and takes care about her pet, called Barsik.

Teachers in our school

Teachers play an important role in our education. All of our teachers are very experienced and knowledgeable. They understand the difficulties of learning process very well. They help us to learn and advise us on all aspects of our life. They shared their knowledge and experience with us, support us and take care of.

Social life at school

School is not only a place of education. It is a place where we develop our relationship. At school we can enjoy different cultural activities and show our individual talents. All pupils can show their individual talents and take part in sport contests. Social live is of great importance for pupils. We always have a lot of parties, competitions and excursions.

Library …

Libraries are very important in the life of all people. Our school library has a good stock of books and our librarian Tatyana Alexandrovna is always ready to help in a choice of books. It can find there books of adventure stories, historical novels and tales, that open up panoramas of life and history of other countries, psychological novels, collection of short stories. We are informed about latest developments in our country and abroad, news in the spheres of science, art and literature. I attend library on a regular basic .

Future career

My favourite subject is English. I understand the importance of knowledge of a foreign language. As for me, I would like to become a tourist agent because a lot of people travel nowadays. I think it’s a very interesting job and I must have perfect knowledge of this subject. Today tourism is one of the world’s largest industries. You will have to deal with the problems and needs of holiday markers but you also have to know the area you are working in and plan trips and tours that will please everyone. I hope in future I become a good tourist agent.

My ideal school

Our school is a quite good comprehensive school. But obviously it could be better. The school would be near a big park so that pupils could walk there after lunch to relax. There would be a large café where we could have a cup of tea or coffee during the breaks. My school would also have modern equipments in all classrooms. There would be some new elective subjects, for example driving lessons, cookery. There would be regular trips to places like museums and art galleries.

Цели и задачи урока:

1) Воспитательная:

Расширять кругозор учащихся

Воспитывать чувство уважения друг к другу, доброжелательность, толерантность,

формирование представления о нормах культурного поведения в обществе в Англии и России.

2) Образовательная:

развитие умения слушать и понимать речь учителя и одноклассников,

слушать аутентичный материал с поиском нужной информации, сопоставлять и сравнивать ее,

развитие умения строить высказывания на основе заданного лексико-грамматического материала.

3) Развивающая:

развивать творческие способности учащихся по теме,

развивать у учащихся коммуникативно-игровые способности,

развивать языковую догадку,

развитие логического мышления, памяти, познавательного интереса

Приветствие учащихся, объявление темы урока.


Good morning, students! Good morning dear guests! Nice to meet you. We have an unusual lesson today. We are going to travel around London. But before visiting any country a tourist should learn more about traditions and customs, about people and their features. And I want you to answer the question what characteristics are typical for the British.

You are absolutely right. But there is one more feature of the British. This poem will help you to guess what one. Look and repeat after me the most difficult words of the poem.

Ok. Well done. Can you name the most famous characteristic of British people right now, without translating? What words can help you to do it? (Thank you and please) What people do use such words? (Polite people)

You know to be polite The British use not only “thank you” and “please”. They use special polite questions. Look at the table. The beginning of polite questions depends on the situation they are asked in.

Be attentive. You should use the formal language when you are in different state institutions for example in a bank. Or if you take part in official events for example in a ceremony.

With young people, your friends, in everyday communication you can use neutral or informal language.

Обращаю ваше внимание на то, что в отличие от обычных вопросов, в которых, как мы знаем, используется обратный порядок слов, в вежливых вопросах на первом месте стоит подлежащее, за ним следует сказуемое, как в обычном повествовательном предложении.

Цель урока: создать условия для коммуникативного общения по теме «Канада», формирование метапредметных, предметных и личностных результатов средствами технологии деятельностного подхода.

Задачи урока:

В ходе урока в технологии деятельностного подхода продолжить:

- Cовершенствование навыков аудирования текста “Canada”

- Совершенствование умений чтения с полным пониманием содержания прочитанного

- Совершенствование умений говорения по теме с использованием новых лексических единиц

- Развитие языковой догадки.

- Воспитание на материале учебных текстов общечеловеческих ценностей, воспитание уважительного и толерантного отношения к другой культуре, более глубокое осознание своей родной культуры.

Применяются методы технологии деятельностного подхода:

- метод головоломки (направлен на развитие и совершенствование коммуникативных навыков и умений учащихся в групповой работе)

- метод поиска решения (создает условия для активной самостоятельности учащихся на уроке. Совокупность метапредметных умений формируется как производное от соответствующих видов целенаправленных действий учащихся на уроке.)

Планируемые результаты:

4. Групповая работа.

As you have noticed, there are several blocks of information about Canada. Let’s figure out what these blocks are.

OK, now let’s divide into groups of 3 and work with these blocks. Do it as you wish. Group 1, your blocks are “General facts” and “Climate”. Group 2, your blocks are “Population” and “Provinces and territories”. Group 3, your blocks are “Natural Resources” and “Political system”.

Each group will get a piece of paper containing its block.4 Your task is to read the block, choose the most important information and prepare a report.

Now we will create new groups of 4 so that each group contains pupils from previous 3 groups. The task of each pupil is to give a short report about his blocks.

Ученики выделяют блоки информации в услышанном тексте и дают им названия.

Учащиеся делятся по желанию на 4 группы по 3 человека.

Каждая группа получает определенный блок текста. Задача: выбрать наиболее важную информацию и подготовить краткое сообщение.

4. Blocks of texts


General facts. The name Canada is believed to come from the Indian word Kanata, meaning "village" or “community”. This fact alone shows that the native population of the country consisted mostly of Indian tribes. Now Canada is the world’s second largest country after Russia and the largest country in western Hemisphere. The country is so wide that six distinct time zones lie within its borders. Some part of the country is beyond the Arctic Circle. The capital of the country is Ottawa. Its currency is the Canadian dollar, which is divided into 100 cents. The country's most important symbol is the maple leaf. One can see it on the Canadian flag.

Climate. The populated southern areas of Canada have a moderate climate when in the north the climate is characterized by very long, cold winters with average temperatures far below freezing and cool summer months. The most humid areas are in the west, where winds from the Pacific Ocean bring a lot of rain.

Population. Canada has a population of over 34 million, about 80% of which live in the south. About three quarters of Canada's population live in towns and cities. Canada's largest metropolitan areas are Toronto [], Montreal [], Vancouver [] and Ottawa []. The French were the first to settle in the country in large numbers during the 17th end early 18th centuries. People of British origin came to stay there mainly after 1763, the year when the British conquered the French Colony of New France. As a result Canada has a dual cultural heritage and both French and English are official languages. Other groups of population are Germans, Italians, Ukrainians, Scandinavians, Poles, the Dutch and Eskimo [] (Inuits []).

Provinces and territories. Canada has 10 provinces and 3 territories, each with its own capital city. French Canadians are mostly concentrated in the provinces of Quebec [], (capital — Quebec City) and New Brunswick (capital — Fredericton). They have kept not only their language, but also their own culture. Both Ottawa, the country's capital, and the largest city of Canada Toronto are situated in the province of Ontario [].

Natural resources. The country is rich in natural resources: gas, oil, coal, gold, copper, iron ore, nickel, uranium, zinc, along with wood and water. It is one of the world's leaders in mineral exports. Its soils, which are especially rich in the three prairie provinces of Alberta [], Manitoba [], and Saskatchewan [] are intensively utilized and make Canada one of the world's largest exporters of agricultural products. Forests cover about half of Canada. They are the basis for such important industries as lumbering and paper production. Forests also give home to deer and caribou, squirrels, minks, skunks, mooses, beavers, black bears and other animals.

Political system. Canada is a constitutional monarchy. Elizabeth II, Queen of England, is also Canada's Queen and sovereign of a number of realms. The Queen is the head of state, and is represented in Canada by the governor-general. Legislative power is vested in Parliament, which includes the Queen, the Senate of 104 appointed members and the House of Commons with about 300 elected members. National elections are held at least once every 5 years. The leader of the political party with the largest number of seats in the House of Commons usually becomes prime minister and forms the government. There are three main political parties represented in the House of Commons; they are the Liberal Party, the Progressive Conservative Party, and the New Democratic Party.

План урока
1. Тема: «Teenagers: Why do teens join a youth group? »


Подростки: Почему подростки объединяются в группы?


Предмет: английский язык , 10 класс.
2. Тип урока: урок закрепления и совершенствования знаний, умений и навыков с использованием ИКТ
3. Идея урока: выявить и обсудить основные проблемы молодежи, определить причины их возникновения и найти способы их решения.
4. Цели урока:


Образовательные:  1) развивать умения читать с целью извлечения общей и  конкретной информации;


2) развивать умения просмотрового чтения;


3) Закрепление умений учащихся употреблять лексику по теме в устной речи;


4) развивать умения поиска, анализа и выбора необходимой информации из текста.


Развивающие:  1) развивать память и мыслительную деятельность учащихся,2) развивать умения аргументировать свою точку зрения,3) развивать языковую догадку, общие и образовательные умения, позволяющие совершенствовать учебную деятельность по овладению английским языком; Развитие способностей к антиципации содержания текста, к логическому изложению содержания высказывания, к самооценке своих действий, адекватных ситуации, развитие способности к анализу, синтезу, сравнению, классификации и систематизации.


4) расширять кругозор учащихся.


Воспитательные: 1) формировать нравственный, позитивный режим общения при обмене мнениями,

Для урока необходимо оборудование: интерактивная доска, компьютер, учебник, плакат с планом урока.

Welcome to the lesson devoted to the “Youth problems” / “Problems of teenagers”. We are very glad to see you and first of all I’d like to introduce our topic. «Teenagers: Why do teens join a youth group? »


Today we’d like to ask and answer some questions:


1.     Do young people have problems?


2.     What difficulties do they face in real life?


Can you answer my question, please?


1.     Who is a teenager? How old is this person?


As you know the word “teenager” comes from English language. And it means a person who is at the age from 13 to 19.

Life for teens is like a struggle, let us read a poem written by a British teenager about life. So, listen to me, please:


Life Is Fate


What for we live? What for we die?
Why can we dream, but cannot fly?
Sometimes we’re happy and we smile,
Sometimes we’re sad, we scream and cry.
What for we love? What for we hate?
I cannot answer! Life is fate!


I agree with the author of this poem. I profoundly believe that life is fate. But I can control it by myself. And choosing the subculture is my own choice. Popular culture is mass culture. It is a professionally organized sphere that works for a large mass of people. Popular culture gives people, especially young, standards to be what they like, to express their individuality.

How do teens express their individuality?


Now I invite you to look through some articles about different subcultures. What subcultures are discussed on these pages? Let’s name them.


1. T.: We’ve said what subculture means. Now let’s say what subcultures you know. I’ll tell one or two sentences about this or that grouping, you’ll call me the name of the group.

1.  A person who dresses in a shocking way. He or she has brightly coloured hair.

2.  These are people with deep understanding of how computers work. They don’t protest against their parents.

3.  They look as thin and pale as possible. They talk about being vampires and the end of the world.

4.  They cut their hair shorter than others do. They are usually regarded as aggressive and violent.

5.  Some people classify them as drug – users, but they always want to change the world to the best.

6.  This group has a threatening appearance. They all can ride motorbikes.

The last point of our discussion is violence. We know that young people are often considered violent. Youth gangs try to control the streets. People are afraid to go out at night. So different kinds of people have different opinions on youth subcultures.


Youth is a very important period in the life of man. This is the time when a person discovers the world and tries to determine the place in the universe. Young people face lots of problems which are very important for them and do not differ much from those that once their parents had to deal with.


What can you remember of the youth violence? What can you tell us about it?


Young people of today do not directly accept the standards of their parents who believe that they are right because they are older. The adults don't want their values to be questioned. The young on the other hand cannot accept the values of their "fathers". All these differences generate a generation gap when the young and adult do not understand one another.


And children, in their turn, shock their parents with their dress, language, behaviour. The existence of sub-culture which is specific for every generation is a form of protest of the young people against the values of the adults. Thus, informal groups such as Hippies, Rockers, Bikers, Skinheads, Punks, Goths, appeared as a kind of protest against the values and lifestyles of the older people.


Another problem that young people face today concerns their relationship with their friends. As far as friendship is concerned, I think that a person can and should have a lot of friends. Не/she can be on good terms with the classmates. But at the same time there can be only two or three real friends. I believe that real friends will never betray each other.


The problem of love is very important for young people. Today they fall in love when they reach the age of Romeo and Juliet. Romanticism and idealism very often accompany the love of the young. They can love deeply and passionately, they believe that their love will last forever. Unfortunately, often their hearts are broken.


Communication has always been an important part of young people's lives. Today they can choose between traditional and new ways of communication. Traditionally the young meet after classes with their school friends, make parties, go to the movies or disco clubs to have fun, relax and acquire new friends. But if the young people do not like noisy clubs and other places of entertainment, they can find friends without leaving their homes - the Internet gives such an opportunity. Although this international Web Wide Web is intended for getting knowledge, only few users employ it in this way. Others use different computer programmes to chat with their friends from all over the globe. They can sit for twenty four hours staring at the monitors. Such young people do not eat, sleep, work or learn properly. Their parents think that they are doing nothing, but this is not absolutely correct. They only thing many young people are interested in is navigating through the net and checking their e-mail boxes. And it is a great problem of the present and future. In general all the problems of the youth are linked with the present rather than with the past or future.

- People cannot live without music. They listen to music, dance to music or learn to play musical instruments. There is music everywhere: at home, in a concert hall, in the park, at the seaside, in the forest and even in the street.

Music is not only a combination of pleasant sounds. It is an art which reflects life. Music reflects people's ideas and emotions. In this world of ours, filled with conflicts, tragedies, joys and hopes, music strives to speak to people of what is most important, urgent and poignant.

Music in the lives of different people is different: some compose music, others play music, and others only listen to it. A lot of people who cannot play any musical instrument love to listen to music either at home or at a con-cert. Different people like different kinds of music. You may prefer pop or rock music, country or folk music, classical music or jazz, but you certainly cannot think of a day without music.
